2022 Stop The Bleed Recap

Thirty participants attended a free Stop the Bleed training on Tuesday, January 10 in our hall. The class was comprised of members of Manchester Lodge, Hartford Lodge, family members, and guests. The class was taught by Assistant Chief Josh Beaulieu from MFRE, and skills stations were overseen by me and three firefighters from Engine 4. Participants learned the need for bleeding control, how to recognize different types of bleeding, and how to stop bleeding in different areas of the body using compression, wound packing, and tourniquets. Each participant then had the opportunity for hands-on practice with different types of tourniquets applied on themselves and each other, as well as packing a wound using a mani limb. It was a great turnout with fun and active participations. Special thanks to and Assistant Chief Beaulieu and his crew. We plan on holding this training again!
