Connecticut Children’s Medical Center & The Safe Kids Program

The Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and their “Safe Kids Program” is our state major project. For those of you who aren’t Elks, a major project is something that we as a group have designated as our primary fund raiser. Since 2003 the CT Elks Association has donated $100,000 per year to the Safe Kids Program, with a grand total of over Five Million Dollars since we began!

For over 60 years we have enjoyed our relationship with the CCMC, and the Safe Kids Program assisting them with keeping children safer through education in the use of bicycle helmets, child car seats, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Our relationship began in 1954 when the Elks donated money to construct a play pavilion for the Cerebal Palsy Units in the Newington Home & Hospital, long before it became the CCMC we know today. Since then, our relationship has grown alongside the hospital! The funds we raise help to reduce the number of children hospitalized each year.
